Detikxpost | PEKANBARU, Indonesia (Sept 10, 2025) – An Indonesian anti-graft court sentenced former acting mayor of Pekanbaru, Risnandar Mahiwa, to five years and six months in prison for corruption involving 3.8 billion rupiah ($250,000) from the city’s 2024 budget. (11/09)

The court also fined him 300 million rupiah and ordered him to repay the embezzled funds within one month after the verdict becomes final, with possible asset seizures if he fails to comply. Judges said Risnandar abused his authority by cutting disbursements of operational funds and accepting gratuities.

Court documents showed that more than 3.6 billion rupiah has been returned through asset seizures and repayments by his family. The panel said the repayment only served as a mitigating factor and did not erase the crime.
